City Hosts Community Forum for Upcoming Noble Skate Park

THE CITY OF NOBLE SEEKS DESIGN INPUT FOR SKATE PARK

The City of Noble will host a community forum on Nov. 1, 2012 to allow community members to add their input to the design of Noble’s upcoming skate trail. The community forum will be held at the Noble City Hall at 7pm. Anyone can attend, especially those that skate, bike or are a parent of a youth that enjoys either of these activities.

The City of Noble has made major strides over the last few years in promoting health. “The City of Noble is dedicated to creating an environment that promotes physical activity,” said Gail Hilty, member of the Noble Community Coalition and resident of Noble. Hilty went on to say, “Many of the business owners are concerned with the skaters that clog the sidewalks or grind on their curbs. I’ve even seen skaters doing tricks on loading docks. It’s great that these youth want to be outside and enjoy their form of recreation, but it’s time we give them a safe place to do that.” The skate trail is the City’s plan to respond to the need for a safe place for skaters to play.

Last year the City of Noble became a certified health community and was awarded a $25,000.00 grant for the construction of a skate trail. “Noble had a skate trail in its plans for years,” stated City Manager, Bob Wade, “It’s great to now have the funds to make those plans a reality,” stated Wade, “and we need the input from the community to really make it something special.” The grant proposal was produced through the collaborative efforts of the City of Noble and the Noble Community Coalition, and came after the City of Noble received an “excellent” certification from the Certified Healthy Communities Program, the highest rating possible.

Residents of Noble and surrounding communities are invited to attend the upcoming community forum hosted by Noble Now. The purpose of the forum is to allow youth, parents, and, most especially, skaters and bike riders, help with the design of the skate trail and its various features. The Community Forum will be on Thursday November 1st, 2012 at 7pm at the City Hall of Noble, 304 S. 3rd St.
