Noble Police Officer Receives Life Saving Award

Noble Police Officer Receives Life Saving Award

Officer Barbara Johnson of the Noble Police Department was recently recognized at the Noble City Council meeting for her life saving acts that she performed on December 3, 2011.  Chief Keith Springstead presented Johnson with a Life Saving Certificate along with a Life Saving Bar that is to be worn with distinction on her uniform.  Family, friend’s coworkers and council members gave Johnson a standing ovation as she was presented with the award.

Officer Johnson responded to a reported house fire located at 105 Parkwoods at 5:22am in Noble.  Upon arrival Johnson learned of other individuals that may be in the burning, smoke filled residence and took it upon herself to enter the structure and eventually locate two teenage juveniles that were asleep in the residence unaware of the fire.

Chief Springstead read the commendation to attendees at the council meeting in part saying, ”Officer Johnson’s actions were in keeping with the finest traditions of the law enforcement profession”.  He continued stating, “Her (Johnson’s) quick assessment of the emergency allowed her to take the decisive actions necessary to prevent the possible loss of life.”  Acting upon recommendations from supervisors both at the fire and police department’s it was with great gratitude that Chief Springstead presented the award.  Her actions on that early morning reflect great distinction upon the City of Noble, the Noble Police Department and herself.
