Severe Weather Press Release 04-2013

With the possibility of severe weather this week the City of Noble is advising their residents to make advanced plans and be prepared for “Sheltering in Place.”  Noble currently has no facilities that are certified for tornados.  Every citizen needs to be weather aware and make advanced plans to leave the area prior to the storm or Shelter in Place.

Shelter-in-place means selecting a small, interior room, with no or few windows, and taking refuge there.  Because information will most likely be provided on television and radio, it is important to keep a TV or radio on, even during the workday. The important thing is for you to follow instructions of local authorities and know what to do if they advise you to shelter-in-place.

Noble Emergency Management will monitor the weather.  In case of tornados an advanced warning may be given as soon as possible by activating the City’s sirens located in various locations around the City.  These sirens are for people that are outside but may give advanced warning of impending weather to those inside a home or building.  The Siren’s warning signal will be a solid blast of three to five minutes.  This is a warning that individuals should seek shelter or move to a place of safety.  Individuals are encouraged to watch and listen to television, radio stations or the internet to be aware of the track of the storm.  No “all clear signal” will be given.  Citizens should monitor the media for the appropriate information of when to resume their normal activity.

The City of Noble urges every resident to advance plan and be prepared for severe weather.  Take all precautions necessary to help minimize the risk of injury to yourself and others.
