Noble (January 16, 2018) – The City of Noble  encourages students, families, communities and schools to get their daily 60 minutes of physical activity by incorporating active transportation into their daily commute.  By passing a Safe Routes to School Policy, the City of Noble shows their commitment to the health and safety of its most precious community members.

Regular physical activity not only helps reduce childhood obesity, it helps strengthen kids’ brains, boost their  immune system, improve sleep and reduce stress. This results in fewer absences and disciplinary problems. Aside from improved physical and mental health, active students also gain improved self-confidence and self-esteem.

“Riding bikes or walking to school is a simple way for kids to fit extra physical activity into their day,” said Ariel Anglin, an HLP Grantee “. Every step adds up to healthier children. Encouraging healthful living while your kids are young will teach them healthy habits that will stay with them for life.”

The Safe Routes to School Policy shows that the city of Noble is committed to the health and safety of students by providing them with safe access to walk or bike to school.  When students exercise before school, they arrive focused and ready to learn, without taking time away from existing school-day activities or placing an additional burden on teachers.  Encouraging more people to walk or bike on neighborhood streets also helps them to become safer and more welcoming for anyone who is not driving.
