NOBLE MUNICIPAL COURT SYSTEM AND MISSION

The Municipal Court of the City of Noble is a court not of record and is the judicial branch of Noble’s city government. The Municipal Court is set up to impartially hear violations of city ordinances and determine the defendant’s innocence or guilt in a just, speedy and cost effective manner.

State law requires the Municipal Court to include:

  • Record keeping
  • Accounting and reporting to state agencies
  • Disbursement of monies tendered for fines, bonds, court costs and related fees.
  • Disposition of traffic offences are to be reported to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as well as requests for suspension of driver license for failure to comply with terms of citations and court orders.
  • Noble’s Municipal Court is held the first Tuesday of each month, (with a few exceptions for holidays and other conflicts).
  • A “Court Appearance” date is located on the front of all citations. The “Court Appearance” date is the date by which the citation must be paid or set up for court. An appearance before the Court Clerk located at City Hall and a signature is require in order to set a court date. (All minors must have a parent or guardian present to either pay a citation or set it for a court date).
  • Fines may be paid by check, cash or money order only – NO debit or credit cards and fines cannot be paid over the phone.

MUNICIPAL COURT QUESTIONS

Where is Municipal Court located?
Municipal Court is located at Noble City Hall – 304 S. Main St. Noble.
When must I go to Court?
A “Court Appearance” date is located on the front of all citations. The “Court Appearance” date is the date by which the citation must be paid or set up for court. An appearance before the Court Clerk and a signature is require in order to set a court date.
What is the fine for a Citation?
Please check the fine schedule. If you do not see a violation listed, call the Court Clerk’s office at (405)872-9251 ext. 2 during working hours, M – F 8:30 – 4:30.
What do I do about my Citation if I am a minor (under 18)?
If you are under 18 a parent or guardian must accompany you to pay a fine, set a court date and/or appear in court.
What if I feel I'm not guilty?
If you wish to contest a citation, you must appear before the Court Clerk to set a court date. Upon your appearence on your assigned court date you may enter a plea of “not guilty” before the judge. A hearing will be scheduled when the officer who issued the citation will be present along with any witnesses for your defense. An attorney is not required but you may be represented at your own expense if you choose.
What if I can't pay the fines immediately?
If payment is not possible on or before the “court appearance” date, you must appear before the court clerk to set a court date and request a reasonable payment plan through the judge. You must sign a payment agreement and in the event you fail to pay as arranged, a failure to pay citation and warrant for your arrest may be issued and your driver license my be suspended.

What if I ignore my Citation or Violation?
A failure to appear citation and warrant for your arrest will be issued. The licensing agency in your state will also be notified of a suspension of your driver license.
How do I pay a Warrant?
Warrants must be paid by cash, money order or cashiers check. NO PERSONAL CHECKS, debit or credit cards are accepted for warrants.

Court Rules

This is a Court of Law you are expected to act and dress appropriately.

  1. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must be present with you.
  2. No shorts, hats, torn or inappropriate T-shirts, etc. in the court room.
  3. Turn off all cell phones.
  4. Do not chew gum or bring snacks into the court room.
  5. Do not read papers or books during the court session.
  6. Smoking is prohibited anywhere on municipal property, including the parking lot.
  7. Please make arrangements for small children before court, however, if it is unavoidable that you must bring small chidren with you to court please make sure they are properly supervised and quiet.  Parents with disruptive children will be asked to wait in the lobby area.
  8. Talking is not permitted during the court session.
